Description:
A wonderful example of an unidentified Tyneside jug (usually attributed to Cornfoot, Carr & Co) well decorated with an over painted transfer of a ship in full sail surrounded by coloured decorations using the typical palette of yellow and green etc. This transfer commemorates the death of King William IV known as the 'Sailor King' as there was never such a ship in the Royal Navy.
Circa 1837
Approx - 4.5 inches (115mm) tall.
In fair condition with a stable crack running from the rim into the transfer.
